Fiber Terminal Splitter Configuration

Fiber Terminal Splitter Configuration

Welcome to Spatial Engineer 11. Today’s video covers configuring a terminal to function as a splitter. In this example, we’ll configure a terminal to serve eight houses. Here’s a step-by-step guide based on the video content:

  1. Selecting the Terminal:
    • Begin by selecting the terminal on your screen.
    • Unlike a 1:1 terminal, this configuration will have a unique out count to accommodate the splitter functionality.
  2. Configuring the Splitter Terminal:
    • Ensure your terminal is set to have one fiber coming in and eight fibers going out.
    • Click on the ellipses button next to the Ports section to open the ports configuration dialogue.
  3. Enabling Splitter Functionality:
    • In the ports configuration dialogue, check the “Splitter” checkbox in the upper right corner.
    • This action will automatically set the input quantity to one.
  4. Configuring Input Port:
    • Select “Add” to add an input port.
    • Provide the port type (e.g., “Available”) and set the port status to “Available.”
    • Set the quantity to “1.”
    • Click “OK” to confirm the input port configuration.
  5. Configuring Output Ports:
    • Select “Add” to add output ports.
    • Provide the port type (e.g., “Available”) and set the port status to “Available.”
    • Set the quantity to “8” for the number of houses being served.
    • Click “OK” to confirm the output port configuration.
  6. Assigning Fiber Strands:
    • Move to the fiber strand column and select the available fiber strands for both input and output.
    • For the output, ensure you pick the correct out counts for the eight fibers going to the houses.
    • Select each available out count corresponding to the terminal.
  7. Finalizing Configuration:
    • Click “OK” to save the configuration.
    • The terminal setup should now display one input fiber and eight output fibers, confirming the terminal is configured as a splitter.

By following these steps, you can effectively configure a terminal to function as a splitter within Spatial Engineer 11, ensuring efficient distribution of fiber connections to multiple houses.
